Expo West Natural Foods Convention Annual Spring trade show held in Anaheim, CA, for the natural and organic products industry

Natural Products Expo West/SupplyExpo 2008 Continues Upward Climb with Record Attendance
BOULDER, Colo. (March 19, 2008) — More than 52,000 retailers, manufacturers, functional ingredient suppliers and industry professionals attended the country's largest natural, organic, and healthy products trade show, Natural Products Expo West/Supply Expo 2008 (www.expowest.com), an increase of 11 percent over last year's attendance. In its 28th year, Natural Products Expo West/Supply Expo, produced by New Hope Natural Media, a division of Penton Media, attracted a record 3,392 exhibits to the Anaheim Convention Center in Calif.
Keynote speaker, The New York Times best-selling author, Michael Pollan told a capacity crowd to think about "not just what is in our food but how we enjoy our food," and reminded the audience that shopping is part of the pleasure of food.
The $57 billion dollar natural and organic products industry continues to enjoy brisk sales with strong growth in certified organic meat and seafood, beer and wine, pet products, herbs and botanicals, and personal care, according to The Natural Foods Merchandiser's 2007 Market Overview. Innovation continues in this marketplace with new biodegradable goods, from housewares and home cleaning products, to certified fair trade products and organic fiber fashions and bedding.
"Each year, Natural Products Expo West gives a sneak peek into what the public will find in America's stores tomorrow," said Fred Linder, president of New Hope Natural Media. "This year, more buyers from the full retail spectrum—from supermarkets, pharmacies, club and convenience stores to independent co-ops and ethnic markets—saw more products than ever before."

The AM Nation. PRO ?

It seems that Timeline Skateboards has offended someone at the Action Sports nation regarding our endorsement. Our endorsements are based on what we have experienced. It’s our opinion. Being a small skateboard company is not always a positive experience, it can be very frustrating competing with publicly owned companies, Blanks and Shop Boards. Timeline skateboards believes that an AM is not a professional skateboarder or athlete. There are various opinions and practices. A true Am will have travel expenses. These expenses are accounted for by them or their parents, and reimbursed by their Sponsors. Not paid! Paying AM'S is wrong by any company. It dilutes the meaning of a Professional. Paying an AM is like getting a limo ride at your 6th grade graduation. There are many companies that feel differently. They have the right to do as they please in this country. Is it the right thing to do? That will be debated by many. There is money to be made by these companies. We will not stop any Timeline rider from participating in these events or ask them to give back money. Timeline Skateboards has nothing to hide. Our company is small; we try to be a good Stewart in whatever we do. Make a better World through skateboarding with honest information. There are companies and skateboarders that value the title Professional Skateboarder. It means you are a Professional that can skateboard all terrain to some degree, shoot a photo, make a video and blow minds at a contest! Be a positive influence off you board and not under the influence! It is the AM and the parents that make the final decision. Timeline Skateboards opinion is just that an opinion. Our industry needs to set standards, provide positive mentoring through leadership that has a Vision. Our industry needs to provide a National Amateur Championship, represented by a body of industry leaders in good faith with experience in professional and AM events. Anything that comes fast is lost fast. Hard work and dedication is a lost art form. We have substituted that for the big banger. Throw some kids down a handrail control the media. Control the masses! Respect is earned. Is that Vision? How does this facilitate being an AM? See you at the next event, keep riding and rolling with a positive line in life. The struggle will always be there.
